FINANCE and National Planning Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane has presented a supplementary budget of K41.9 billion, with K8.3 billion intended for drought response interventions for affected citizens. Dr Musokotwane says from the recommended amount, K14.6 billion has been dedicated to address external debt service obligations, while K15.2 billion will be used to dismantle fuel arrears. Meanwhile, Dr Musokotwane says K17.2 billion of the supplementary budget will be realised through the declaration of savings from existing budget allocations to various government institutions and departments. He adds that K3.8 billion will come from additional revenues, including funds forfeited to the state from individuals and institutions believed to have acquired them irregularly.
