ZAMBEEF Products PLC says it will inform the market through the correct channels should the sale of its Chiawa Farm be concluded.
Zambeef Executive for Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Ezekiel Sekele says the company is aware of recent media commentary regarding the sale of its Chiawa farm, which has been on offer for some time now.
Government recently disclosed that it had purchased Zambeef’s Chiawa Estate Farm in Kafue District at $13.5 million and handed it over to the Zambia National Service (ZNS) and Zambia Correctional Service (ZCS) for its management. This move has, however, been criticised by many stakeholders who have questioned government’s decision to spend such a large amount of money on the farm.
In response to a press query, Sekele stated that Zambeef remained committed to engaging all its stakeholders on matters related to its business operations through appropriate and relevant media and forums.
“Zambeef Products PLC (Zambeef) is aware of recent media commentary with regards to the sale of its Chiawa farm which has been on offer for some time now. As a Public Limited Company (PLC), Zambeef publishes all its key business information on the Securities Market in Lusaka, Zambia and London, United Kingdom. Zambeef, therefore, encourages all stakeholders to refer to information and facts that have already been published in the public domain. Zambeef, as part of its fiduciary processes, will inform the market via the correct market channels should a sale of Chiawa farm be concluded. In relation to this, we continue to encourage all stakeholders to refer to publicly available information published on the following websites: Lusaka Securities Exchange: www.luse.co.zm, London Stock Exchange, AIM: www.lseg.com and Zambeef Products PLC: www.zambeefplc.com,” stated Sekele.
“Zambeef remains committed to engaging all of its stakeholders on any matters related to its business operations in the appropriate and relevant media and forums. The Board and management continue to focus on the implementation of its strategy and delivering on the goal of feeding the nation and thereby supporting the country’s food security agenda”.
