THE Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has petitioned the Constitutional Court, seeking an order that Dr Ron Mwambwa immediately vacate the office of the Auditor General. LAZ argues that Dr Mwambwa’s appointment has not been ratified by the National Assembly as required by law since 2023. The Association adds that by virtue of being above the age of 60 years, the prescribed retirement age for the Auditor General, Dr Mwambwa remains disqualified for appointment to that office.
