THE Lusaka Magistrates’ Court has granted former Lumezi MP Munir Zulu a K35,000 cash bail pending an appeal in a case where he was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for seditious practices. Despite being granted bail, Zulu will remain incarcerated as he is currently also serving a one-year jail sentence for a separate conviction. Zulu is serving a one-year sentence for libel, which was imposed by Chief Resident Magistrate Davies Chibwili, as well as an 18-month sentence with hard labour for seditious practices. The latter was issued by Magistrate Trevor Kasanda in May 2025. Zulu was facing one count of seditious practices, contrary to Section 57 (1) (e) of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
