CHILANGA Golf Club Captain Tapeya Phiri says his team is optimistic it will win year’s triangular golf tournament.
In an interview, yesterday January 20, 2017, Phiri said his team had done enough preparations to scoop the opening tournament of the Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) calendar.
“It’s a calendar opener for the year and we want to start on a high. Our team has been preparing for the tournament and will ensure the crown remains at Chilanga golf course,” said Phiri.
He said his team had a lot of talented golfers who needed exposure.
“Our golfers are also looking forward to the tournament. It’s an opportunity for them to upgrade their ratings while for some it’s a chance to gain exposure and get drafted into the national golf team,” Phiri said.
Chainama Golf club will today January 21, 2017 host the ZGU Triangular golf tournament involving the host Chainama, Lusaka and Chilanga golf clubs.
The tournament will be played over a series of weeks at Chainama, Lusaka while Chilanga will host the grand finale next month.
Each team will have twelve players in the tournament.
