SPORTS minister Moses Mawere says he is confident that FAZ will align its Constitution to FIFA regulations before the deadline, March 31.
Mawere told journalists yesterday that there was nothing sinister with deferring the FAZ council meeting.
“Deferring the meeting does not mean council members are dragging the process. The matters of Constitution making are supposed to be agreed by every member of the association,” Mawere said.
He said there was need for all councillors to be consulted and be given time to digest the proposed Constitution.
Mawere said government was happy with the way FAZ was handling the Constitution amendement.
“As Government, we are happy in the way councillors deliberated in a mature manner,” said Mawere.
FIFA has threatened to suspend FAZ if the association misses the March deadline for amending its Constitution.
Meanwhile, councillors yesterday asked FAZ to give them time to study the draft constitution further before they could make submissions.
