Zambia’s 2018 Russia FIFA World Cup qualifying dreams are over.
This is after they lost 1-0 away to Nigeria in their penultimate Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup Group B qualifier away in Uyo on Saturday.
But Nigeria was second best better for much of the opening hour of the game.
Zambia’s striker Alex Ngonga had two great chances with a 20th minute shot going wide while his 44 the minute effort was parried by the Nigerian goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa.
Zambia even had the goal behind the net in the 52nd minute but Augustine Mulenga’s effort was shockingly ruled out for offside.
It was substitute Alex Iwobi who ended Zambia’s dreams in the 82nd minute with then three points for Nigeria when he smashed in a fine shot from outside the box to send The Super Eagles flying to their sixth FIFA World Cup outing.
