Former FAZ general secretary Brigadier General John Musonda has died aged 69.
General Musonda died on Wednesday evening in a road traffic accident in Lusaka at Cross Roads junction.
General Musonda served as FAZ general secretary from 2004 to 2007. He also served in various capacities at the football house including FAZ technical committee chairperson.
FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala has since paid his tribute to the former leader.
“We are saddened by the demise of General Musonda whose service to football is a matter of public record. He served the game in various capacities including being General Secretary and Technical Committee chairperson,” Kashala stated. “It is our prayer that the family may be consoled in this time of sorrow,”he said.
“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) joins the football family in mourning the late Brigadier General John Musonda who served as General Secretary from 2004-2007. General Musonda served football in various capacities including being FAZ Technical Committee Chairman and was part of the contingent at the 1988 Seoul Olympics where Zambia famously reached the quarterfinals,” an official FAZ statement read.
