Two people, of which one is suspected to be an Ethiopian Prohibited Immigrant, died yesterday in an accident which happened at 04:30 hours, one kilometer east of Chief Chamuka’s palace on Chipembi – Chamuka gravel road in Chisamba district.
According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo today, a Toyota Regius bus which was carrying mostly suspected Ethiopian Prohibited Immigrants en route to South Africa overturned due to excessive speed.
“Involved was unknown driver who was driving a Toyota Regius registration number ALB 1052 from the direction of North to South who was carrying about 18 passengers most of which are Ethiopian prohibited immigrants en route to South Africa. The accident happened when the driver, due to excessive speed lost control of the motor vehicle and overturned causing fatal injuries to two male persons not yet identified. The two died on the way to Chisamba Health Clinic,” Katongo stated.
“The following sustained serious injuries, male Bonny Sichinga aged 26 of Nakonde, male Sedeka Bakala aged 20, male Ian Miscano aged 27, male Joseph Doubt aged 26 , male Fayaz , female Blenshi, male Sacamu Bakabo aged 15years , male Tomasska Moloro aged 20 years , male Masan Fantu, male Sedika Deko aged 17, male Tagesa Epemu all of Ethiopians while five were treated and discharged as they sustained minor injuries.”
She stated that the casualties were rushed to Liteta Hospital whilst the bodies of the deceased were in Chisamba Health Hospital.
“All the casualties were rushed to Liteta hospital for treatment while the bodies of the two deceased are in Chisamba Health clinic mortuary awaiting postmotem. Immigration department has been informed and investigations have continued,” stated Katongo.
