The Judiciary has expressed shock at the death of Mapanza Local Court messenger Lawrence Mizinga in Choma district, who was allegedly shot on Sunday during the execution of his duties.
According to a statement issued by Judiciary public relations officer Kalumba Slavin, Tuesday, Mizinga was allegedly shot as he served notices of taxation and hearing as ordered by the Local Court.
Slavin described the late as hardworking and diligent employee who was committed to his duties.
“The Judiciary wishes to express it’s shock at the death of Mr Lawrence H Mizinga, Local Court messenger, Mapanza Local Court, Choma district in Southern Province. Mr Mizinga passed away during the execution of his duties on Sunday, May 19, 2019. The late Mr Mizinga, 59, was allegedly shot as he served notices of taxation and hearing as ordered by the Local Court. He was hardworking, diligent employee, who was committed to his duties,” she stated.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr Mizinga’s family, as we await the due process of the law to take its course. We would also like to thank the police and the medical staff who responded to the incident.”
