INSPECTOR General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has removed all division police officers in charge of traffic and transferred them to Force Headquarters “awaiting further deployment”.
According to information obtained by News Diggers, the officers who have been left without any substantive positions, were transferred to clean up the traffic police department, following concerns.
“The massive transfers have been made with immediate effect and were necessitated by some developments which cannot be fully unveiled to the media, but obviously the Inspector General felt it was necessary to remove the division traffic officers,” the sources explained.
“What it means is that these have been removed from the traffic department completely and they will now work under general duties if they are deployed, but for now, they will go to Force Headquarters without substantive positions until they are deployed again.
Those who have been transferred included the following:
Superintendent Chrispin Kanyungulu, divisional traffic officer for North-Western Division who has been reverted to general duties and transferred to service headquarters for re-deployment; Superintendent Jacob Mubu, Divisional Traffic officer for Southern Division reverted to general duties and transferred to Service Headquarters for re-deployment; Woman Senior Superintendent Gladys Chitundu, the divisional traffic officer for Lusaka Division reverted to general duties and transferred to Service Headquarters for re-deployment; and Superintendent Tanazio Phiri who is divisional traffic officer for Northern Division.
Others are Senior Superintendent Mwiinga Nkolola, service traffic staff officer also reverted to general duties and transferred to Lilayi Police College; Superintendent Patriana Chisha, the divisional traffic officer, Western Division who has been reverted to general duties and transferred to Service Headquarters for re-deployment; and Acting Superintendent divisional traffic officer for Luapula Division, Febian Pangani, equally transferred to Service Headquarter and reverted to general duties.

When I travel in Zambia, I always say “road block country”. I have travelled by road from Kigali to Bujumbura, not a single road block. Niamey to Ouagadougou, not a single road block. Why is Zambia road block country?
