LUSAKA lawyer Makebi Zulu says his client, Faith Musonda, has asked for privacy as police probe the source of her K65 million.
And Police spokesperson Esther Katongo says Musonda’s lawyers have requested for more time to engage their client and they have been told to reappear on Thursday.
Musonda appeared for interrogation at Lusaka Central Police station in relation to the K65 Million which was recovered from her house.
She was accompanied by her lawyers Makebi Zulu and Jonas Zimba as well as some family members who were spotted in a black vehicle.
Earlier, Musonda had gone to Police Headquarters but was later directed to go to Lusaka Central Police station for interrogations.
Musonda arrived at Central Police station around 10:00 hours while wearing a face mask and sun glasses. She then proceeded to the interrogation room where she was interrogated for about an hour. She only came out at around 11:50 hours, still in the company of her lawyers and was quickly rushed to a vehicle.
Before she left the police station with her lawyers, a number of people, some who were there for other cases, rushed to the vehicle to try to catch a glimpse of her.
Musonda was heard laughing with one of the lawyers about how some people were jostling to catch glimpse of her.
And speaking to journalists, her lawyer, Zulu said the police had given them time to obtain further instructions from Musonda and would return to the Central Police station another day.
He asked that Musonda’s privacy be respected.
“The police have told us what they want, we wish to obtain further instructions from our client and we should be coming back to the police. But not today, we have agreed on a date but we would like our client’s privacy to be respected. I know you guys are following this up but we would really want for her privacy to be respected. The stance of the police is that they have given us time to obtain further instructions,” said Zulu.
And in a separate statement, Katongo said Musonda would reappear on Thursday.
“Faith Musonda availed herself to Police today at Lusaka Division Police Headquaters in the company of her lawyers Makebi Zulu and Jonas Zimba. Her Lawyers have requested for more time to engage their client, hence she will appear on Thursday this week. In the spirit of justice, police granted their request,” said Katongo.
