THE National Assembly has rejected a motion which was seeking to Introduce Sign Language and Braille writing as optional subjects in all public schools. Acting Minister of Community Development and Social Services Rodney Sikumba said the motion could not be moved because government already introduced Braille and Sign Language as an option in the Zambia curriculum framework of 2013. “We do not support this motion purely because the mover of the motion is merely pushing an open door.
