ZESCO Spokesperson Matongo Maumbi says the power utility company has disconnected five schools in Eastern Province, among them Chizongwe Technical School and Eastern Girls Boarding School, due to nonpayment of bills. And Maumbi says other institutions have also be disconnected for failure to their bills. Responding to a press query, Maumbi said the disconnection was a standard practice. “The disconnection of power supply that happened is standard practice for non-compliant customers. All customers are required to settle their outstanding debts for the electricity consumed,” he said.
