THE Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) has introduced a new law that prohibits employers in both the public and private sectors from hiring anyone whose qualifications have not been verified by the Authority. The Authority says the provision also prevents higher education institutions and those registered under the TEVET Act from enrolling individuals into any programme of study without first verifying their qualifications. And ZAQA says it will be charging K50 for grades 7, 9 and 12 verification, K200 for certificates and diplomas, K500 for degrees, masters and postgraduate doctorates, and K1,200 for verifying all foreign qualifications, with the process available online.
