THE latest Auditor General’s report on local authorities has revealed that in 2020, Kalumbila Town Council awarded a contract to Trans Engineering Zambia Limited for the design and construction of a two-storey, three-star Town Council Hotel at a cost of K75,790,788. The report has further revealed that the contract sum was later revised to K94,642,109, but a physical verification of the hotel conducted in October 2024 showed that the project was 90 percent complete and had been delayed to be completed by 20 months.
