THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has dismissed reports claiming that it arrested individuals in Lusaka’s Matero area for possessing counterfeit Zambian banknotes that have yet to be introduced. In a statement, Thursday, DEC Public Relations Officer Allan Tamba refuted the allegations and urged the public to rely on verified information to avoid unnecessary panic and speculation. “Contrary to the information circulating through various media platforms suggesting that the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC), has arrested some individuals in Matero area in Lusaka District in connection with the offence of possession of counterfeit new Zambian Kwacha Bank notes, we wish to report that no such arrests have been effected by the Commission.
