THE church mother bodies have insisted that Constitution amendment Bill No. 7 of 2025 should be withdrawn in its entirety, stating that the Constitutional Court’s declaration that the process used to enact the bill is unconstitutional shows a lack of legitimacy. The three church mother bodies namely: the Council of Churches in Zambia, Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops say the Constitution belongs to the people of Zambia and any attempt to alter it must reflect a broad national consensus, not narrow political interests.
