On Saturday, President Hakainde Hichilema announced that he had set up a division called the “Presidential Delivery Unit” with the mandate of accelerating the implementation of high priority government programmes and projects across the country. According to a statement released by State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka, the President has since appointed Permanent Secretary Management Development Division Kusobile Kamwambi to Head the unit while Chipokota Mwanawasa will deputise her. Reacting to this news, some citizens wondered how different the unit is from the Project Implementation and Monitoring unit which is currently headed by Dr. Lawrence Mwananyanda.
