A FARMER, Beauty Chainda, has lamented the Food Reserve Agency’s decision to forgo the purchase of soya beans from the 2022/2023 farming season under this year’s crop marketing period. While the government has increased the floor price for maize by over 100 per cent, the UPND government has resolved to do away with soya beans on grounds that the Food Reserve Agency still has the commodity in stock that has not yet been disposed of. This development has left farmers like Chainda devastated, as they now suddenly do not have a ready market for their produce.
