NOT so long ago, Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa reassured the nation that President Hakainde Hichilema is not interested in running for a third term. This reassurance, although it might have been well intended by the Minister of Information, was unnecessary because there is no option for a Zambian Head of State to rule beyond two terms, whether they have that interest or not. It’s also quite strange that we can be talking about President Hichilema’s lack of interest in going beyond two terms, when he is yet to finish his first.
