Zambian kwaito outfit, Ma Africa are this monthend set to release their long awaited album “Fresh Start”.

The group whose hit single “Chimwemwe Dance” is receiving favourable airplay on radio and popular night spots have described the album as timely and a perfect Christmas gift for their fans and followers.

In an interview, singer Daxon Banda said: “We have been in the studio working on our current album Fresh start, it features singles like ‘Why did you follow’, ‘Pamodzi’ ft Izrael, cConnected’ ft Reuben and Kabova, and ‘Chimwemwe Dance’,” Daxon said.

Some of the other artistes the group worked with on this album include; T-Bwoy, Dj Cosmo, James Sakala, Hanson Baliruno from Uganda, Kaladoshas, Neo and Dimple Williams.

Daxon also took time to explain the inspiration and meaning of the “Chimwemwe dance”.

“Chimwemwe dance is a dance that about culture originating from Kitwe, on the Copperbelt. But the dance has different versions which include Shatta and Touch also coming from Kaunda Square. All in all these are Zambian dances that people from townships enjoy,” Daxon said.

“Chimwemwe dance is our Christmas gift to everyone for this festive season and hope people will enjoy the music and dance throughout the year.”

The group has promised to invest in quality music videos and take Zambian music on international music platforms.
