Monica’s death in the critically-acclaimed TV drama series Mpali remains, in my books, the saddest so far in that work of fiction. Played by Judith Moro, her final appearance in Mpali was in Season Six, having joined the show in Season Three. She played the role of protagonist Nguzu’s nephew, Shadreck’s fiancée. Her character’s storyline ended in tragedy when she took her own life due to a troubled relationship with Shadreck, after finding out that he was canoodling with his uncle’s youngest wife, Tamara.
