THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) says it has so far purchased 680,914 metric tonnes of maize and 11.56 metric tonnes of paddy rice from farmers since satellite depots opened on July 29, 2026. Recently, the Agency disclosed that it had managed to clear over K3.2 million to farmers in just 24 hours. Responding to a query, Thursday, FRA Board Chairperson Suresh Desai disclosed that about K3.4 billion had been paid to farmers so far. Desai said the maize carry-over stock from the 2024/2025 season stood at 1.455 million metric tonnes.
