DEVELOPMENT Bank of Zambia (DBZ) Board Chairperson Noel Nkoma has refuted media reports that the bank is writing off loans issued to some politically exposed persons. And Nkhoma says recovery of loans is not as easy as people may think, arguing that defaulters take advantage of court processes. News Diggers reported last week that DBZ had started a process of writing off “non-performance” loans amounting to K693.5 million which were issued to some politically exposed persons (PEPs), among others. The newspaper also reported that about K71,603,789 million had since been written off, without approval from the Secretary to the Treasury.
