Expelled Roan PF member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has pleaded not guilty to three counts of traffic offenses in the Lusaka Fast Track Court.
Kambwili, who is being represented by Keith Mweemba, Caristo Mukonka and Christopher Mundia, appeared before magistrate Brian Simachela today.
In count one, it is alleged that Kambwili being the registered owner of Jaguar registration number AOB 2949, knowingly was in charge of the said motor vehicle bearing a false registration mark ‘CK 900’ which was being driven by Chileshe Chileshe on Dedan Kimathi road on August 13, 2017 in Lusaka.
The second count states that Kambwili permitted Chileshe to drive the said motor vehicle without a driving license contrary to the road traffic act No 11 of 2002 of the laws of Zambia.
Particulars in third count allege that on August 13,2017 Kambwili failed to display a certificate of insurance on the Jaguar in respect of which the disc was issued.
The vehicle was intercepted by a road traffic inspector Kabulo Chikowa who was conducting road inspection along Dedan Kimathi road to ascertain the level of compliance by motorists to road traffic regulations after which he came across the motor vehicle in question which was being driven by Chileshe.
After further inquiries it was discovered that the vehicle belonged to Kambwili and upon further examinations, irregularities were discovered pertaining to the false registration mark of the vehicle.
The matter comes up for trial on September 21 at 09:00 hours for trial.
