TRADITIONAL healer Chileya Chilufya, popularly known as Kalonga Kanono, has reconciled with a 27-year-old woman who was accused of trespassing on his premises.

Miriam Kunda was accused of trespassing on the premises of Chilufya after she visited his office on two different occasions seeking traditional medicine to get back with her husband who had chased her away from the matrimonial home.

She later on went to Chilufya’s house insisting that he marries her after her husband chased her.

But Chilufya has now withdrawn the case stating that he had decided to forgive Kunda.

In this matter, Kunda of Zambia National Service (ZNS) camp was charged with one count of criminal trespass, but had pleaded not guilty.

It was alleged that Kunda on December 3, 2020, unlawfully entered Chilufya’s premises with intent to steal.

However, when the matter came up yesterday for trial before Magistrate Amy Masoja, public prosecutor Abraham Ngozo told the Court that Chilufya, who was present, wanted to address the Court.

After being called to the witness box, Chilufya said he was applying to have the case withdrawn against Kunda as he had forgiven her.

Asked by Magistrate Masoja if she was found at the complainant’s premises, the accused said, “yes”, but added that she did not know it was an offence.

Magistrate Masoja then invoked section 8 of the Criminal Procedure Code (for reconciliation).

Kunda was then told that the case was over.

Allegations in this case were that Mirriam Kunda visited the traditional healer in January, 2020, at his office in Kanyama requesting for help.

She allegedly wanted some traditional medicine to get back with her husband, who had chased her and Chilufya asked her to pay a K500 for the said medicine.

After that, she left for Kabwe, but later went back to Chilufya to appreciate him for the services because the medicine had worked as she was back with her husband.

However, sometime in May, Kunda went back to Chilufya’s clinic complaining that her husband had again chased her.

She was again assisted by the traditional healer, but to Chilufya’s surprise in August, 2020, Kunda went to his office with her bags demanding that he marry her.

On December 3, 2020, Kunda again went to Chilufya’s house with her bags, insisting that he married her, but was again taken to Kanyama Police Station where she was charged for criminal trespass.

This is because the traditional healer allegedly did not want her near his house as she was just a customer, who had gone to seek for help, which he rendered to her.
