THE Lusaka Fast Track Court has convicted and sentenced a 30-year-old man of Lilayi to 18 months imprisonment for dangerous driving. Magistrate Moffat Phiri has also sentenced Philemon Dyamin, a Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) employee, to a fine of K30,000 for failing to meet the requirements for motor vehicle clearance. Dyamin is alleged to have, on August 30, 2024, caused an accident along Independence Road which left Chief Justice Dr Mumba Malila injured and later hospitalised. When the matter came up for facts before Magistrate Phiri, the state made an application to substitute the indictment, which was granted.
