THE Economic and Financial Crimes Court, High Court Division, has denied former Intercity PF cadre Francis Muchemwa bail pending his appeal against a three-year sentence. In July this year, Chief Resident Magistrate Davies Chibwili convicted and sentenced Muchemwa to three years imprisonment with hard labour for being in possession of property suspected of being proceeds of crime. Magistrate Chibwili also fined Muchemwa K141,000 for obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretence. Earlier, Muchemwa had applied before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for bail pending his appeal but his request was denied.
