A STATE witness has told the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court that her mother, a herbalist, received a loan from Chief Mukuni to buy a house in Libala South. However, when the trial commenced, Furhana Patel’s mother, Elizabeth Phiri, who was the first witness in the matter, testified that her grandfather, Chief Mukuni, gave her over K1 million in cash, which she used to purchase a house. Patel, 34, a registered nurse, also told the court that former First Lady Esther Lungu forced her and her mother, Phiri, to sign papers surrendering their properties.
