Striker Conlyde Luchanga says the Zambia U20 team is now firmly focusing on the build-up to the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup after they were paid their bonuses.
Zambia had outstanding dues from their 2017 U20 AFCON victory as hosts in March.
They were paid last week prior to the team’s’ departure for their fortnight training camp in Spain where they arrived last Saturday from Lusaka.
“Obviously we want to thank FAZ for providing us with that deal,” Luchanga said from the teams camp in Spain on Monday.
“Obviously we are now putting that aside and now the most important thing is the World Cup.
“Everyone now is happy and concentrating on the World Cup.”
Meanwhile the team held its first full-day training session on Monday morning.
And FAZ spokesperson Desmond Katongo said Tenerife where the U20 AFCON champions are camped that Spartak Moscow striker Fashion sakala is expected to joined the team on Tuesday from his Russian base.
The team will fly to South Korea after the camp ahead of the tournament kick-off on May 20, a day before Zambia’s opening Group C match against Portugal in Jeju where they will be based.
Iran and Costa Rica are Zambia’s other Group C opponents.
