Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba is delighted to see his side get a win that has lifted them to 2nd place heading into this weekend’s Week 7 home fixture against Nkana.
The defending FAZ Super Division champions beat struggling Nchanga Rangers 2-0 away in Chingola on Wednesday in a scheduled Week 6 match to move from 3rd to 2nd position and within a point of leaders Lumwana Radiants.
“It is a good feeling to get second position on the log. We managed to get a victory which is important for us as we prepare to play Nkana over the weekend,” Numba said.
Zanaco’s victory also came three days before they host their big rivals from the Copperbelt Nkana at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday.
“Of course it will be a tough game playing Nkana. They are a very good side, they are playing good football and we just have to accept that,” Numba said.
“All we need to do is psyc the players and prepare them so that they are ready for Nkana.”
Nkana were one of three sides to beat Zanaco last season with a 4-2 win in Kitwe as the latter raced to collect the 2016 league crown.
Zanaco have 13 points, two more than Zesco who drop to 3rd, ahead of Saturday’s date with 11th placed Nkana who have 8 points.
