Smouha snatched victory out of Zesco United’s jaws on Friday night away in Egypt to see the two sides draw in Alexandria.
Zesco and Smouha finished 1-1 in their penultimate Group C match in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.
The match was sparkless before coming to life in the 80th minute.
Zesco took the lead in the 85th minute when Yasser Ibrahim turned the ball into his own net off an effort from striker Jesse Were.
Smouha, however, won a penalty in stoppage time that was converted by Banou Diawara to see the two sides share the spoils.
Zesco rise from 3rd to 2nd place on 7 points to join leaders Al Hilal Obied of Sudan on the same number of points but with an inferior goal difference.
But Obied could extend their lead by three points on Saturday when they hosts Angolan club CRD Libolo.
Libolo have 6 points while Smouha stay bottom on 5 points with one match left to play.
