FORMER Zesco United coach George Lwandamina is set to bounce back at the Ndola side barely two years after his resignation.
Lwandamina quit his job at Zesco to join Tanzanian side Young Africans.
According to Zesco insiders, the club has finalized Lwandamina’s paper work and the coach will join the Ndola side this week.
Tenant Chembo has been acting since the departure of Serbian Zlatko Krmpotic last year.
“As far as we are concerned, George Lwandamina is bouncing back as head coach. The club decided to go for Lwandamina instead of confirming Chembo. Lwandamina will come with his assistant Noel Mwandila and we don’t know where that places Chembo,” the source said.
Lwandamina guided Young Africans to winning the Tanzanian league title last season.
The former Chipolopolo coach won two league titles with Zesco, Barclays Cup and the 2016 Charity Shield title.
He also steered Zesco’s Champions League semi-final berth in 2016.
The source said Chembo is frustrated with the club’s decision to retain Lwandamina as he was set to take over the technical bench and that the appoi, ntment of a new coach is being spearheaded by Zesco Limited.
“I really doubt if Chembo will stay at Zesco. He is not just frustrated but Lwandamina is coming with his own assistant. That will displace him (Chembo),” the source added.
Zesco is tomorrow scheduled to face JKU of Zanzibar in the CAF Champions League preliminary round return leg at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
