The Centre for Trade Policy and Development says it is shocking that government found money to consult citizens on whether or not to remain members of the ICC whilst claiming there are no resources for other important issues.

In this audio, CTPD acting executive director Isaac Mwaipopo says the resources would have been allocated to students’ bursaries, a Referendum to pass the Bill of Rights or other more pressing sectors.

Mwaipopo also wonders whose interests government is serving.

On Thursday, Justice Minister Given Lubinda told journalists that K2 million had been set aside for consultations on whether or not Zambia should leave the ICC in 30 districts.
