Police in Chingola have arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly killing a 49-year-old man whom he found having sex with his mother.

According to a statement issued by police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo today, Danny Mushitu alledegly hit Lesford Saidi with a brick and plank after finding the latter having carnal knowledge of his mother in his hut.

“A male adult identified as Lesford Saidi aged 49 of Kasompe in Chingola on the Copperbelt is alleged to have been murdered by Danny Mushitu aged 20 years of Matimpa area off Solwezi road in Chingola on allegation that he found the victim having carnal knowledge of his mother inside his hut,” Katongo stated.

“This occurred between 12th December, 2017 around 23:00 hours and 13th December, 2017 at 00:50 hours at Matimpa area, off Solwezi road, Chingola. The accused person is reported to have hit the victim with a brick and a plank and sustained deep cuts on the forehead, on the left eyebrow and on the upper lip. The body is lying in Nchanga Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem while the accused person is detained in Police custody.”

Meanwhile, Police in Muchinga Province have received a case of suspected poisoning where a 35-year-old woman and her two daughters two and three were found dead whilst her husband is battling for his life in hospital.

“In Muchinga Province, Police received a report of suspected poisoning in which a male adult identified as Manase Mbango aged 42 was found in an unconscious state while his wife identified as Fanny Bota aged 35 and their two daughters aged two (02) and three (03) were found dead. This happened between 12th December, 2017 at around 19:00 hours and 13th December, 2017 at 18:00 hours at Chisowa Village, Chief Luchembe of Mpika District. The survivor is admitted to Michael Chilufya Sata Hospital while the three bodies are lying in Mpika Urban Clinic Mortuary,” stated Katongo.

Investigations have been instituted in the matter.
