Zambia Police say a warrant officer of Chindwin Barracks shot dead his wife, a police constable, Wednesday, using a pistol after a marital dispute.
In a statement, Zambia police public relations officer Esther Mwaata Katongo stated that the warrant officer, identified as Pethias Mwape, 42, shot dead his wife, Constable Esther Mulobwa, 33, after a marital dispute in the late hours of Wednesday, May 16, and subsequently committed suicide.
“We received a report of murder and suicide in which a warrant officer class one of Chindwin Barracks identified as Pethias Mwape, aged 42, shot dead his wife a police constable identified as Constable Mulobwa Esther aged 33 who was working in the Criminal Investigations Department in Kabwe,” Katongo stated, Thursday.
“The warrant officer is reported to have shot dead his wife using a pistol yesterday between 20 00 hours and 22 00 hours after a marital dispute. After realizing that police were looking for him, Mwape also shot himself dead. Both bodies are in Kabwe General Hospital mortuary.”
