PATRIOTIC Front Secretary General Davies Mwila says any disciplinary action against Eastern Province chairperson Emmanuel Banda popularly known as Jay Jay will have to be dealt with at provincial level before the recommendations are brought to the Central Committee.
In a statement, Monday, PF media director Sunday Chanda said Mwila directed Eastern Province Chairman Andrew Lubusha to deal with the matter.
“Ruling Patriotic Front (PF) Hon Davies Mwila has directed Eastern Province Provincial Chairman Andrew Lubusha to deal with the matter as per party procedure in which Provincial Chairperson Emmanuel J. Banda following last week’s fracas at Lusaka Central Police from the Party’s standpoint. He says the party has well laid party guidelines and any disciplinary matter involving a party official at Provincial level is within the jurisdiction of the province before any recommendations can be made to Central Committee,” Chanda stated.
“Considering that the accused is Provincial Youth Chairman for Eastern Province, any disciplinary matters related to his case will have to be dealt with at Provincial level before any recommendations can be brought to the Central Committee.”
Mwila said no party official was permitted to break the law and expect to be protected by the party.
“The SG wishes to caution all Party officials and members alike that no one is permitted to break the law and expect to be protected by the party. He has also reaffirmed President Edgar Lungu’s directive to the Party at large to abide by the laws of the land mindful that none is above the law,” stated Chanda.
And when asked in a police WhatsApp group if the service had apprehended Jay Jay, Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said “he is still at large.”
