POLICE have recorded warn and caution statements from UPND members Mubita Nawa and Anthony Bwalya over allegations giving of false information.
In a statement, Thursday, acting police spokesperson Danny Mwale stated that the duo were cautioned in relation to the offence of giving false information on the National Registration Act and destroying evidence.
Mwale stated that police also recorded a warn and caution statement for National Democratic Congress (NDC) spokesperson Saboi Imboela.
“October 29, 2020 – Police in Lusaka have recorded a warn and caution statement from Mubita Nawa, aged 45, of Balastone Park, plot number 3974/M and Anthony Bwalya, aged 39, of house number 5 Mbawa Avenue in Chelstone. The duo have been cautioned in relation to the offence of giving false information, contrary to section 13 (c) of chapter 126 of the National Registration Act and destroying evidence, contrary to section 111 chapter 87 of the penal code of the laws of Zambia. Police have also recorded a warn and caution statement from Saboi Imboela, aged 42, of plot number 1243 off Lilayi Road,” Mwale stated.
And Mwale stated that police summoned Diamond TV chief executive officer Costa Mwansa to help police with the investigation on the leakage of the 2021 national budget.
“Meanwhile, police summoned Diamond Television chief executive officer Costa Mwansa and head of news and current affairs George Chomba to help with investigations in relation to the leakage of the National Budget, which went viral before it was presented in Parliament,” stated Mwale.
