UPND Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has described calls by some opposition members of parliament for the abolishment of the District Commissioner position as baseless. Reacting to Mpika PF member of parliament Francis Kapyanga’s calls for the abolishment of the said office after police arrested the Lumezi DC for theft of 271 bags of maize, Mweetwa argued that it wasn’t the office, as a whole, involved in criminal activities but certain individuals. “The colleagues from the opposition I think are too quick to make that call.
