AGRICULTURE Minister Mtolo Phiri says the current shortage of mealie meal in Eastern Province is due to smuggling of the commodity to other countries. Speaking during the Chipata Central Constituency Office-Open Day, Tuesday, Phiri warned that those engaged in smuggling would be arrested. “I have pictures here, I have a friend in Magwero who was capturing pictures of vehicles taking mealie meal to Malawi. Let us be vigilant, let the community be vigilant. If we as citizens, we have seen them, we have the right as citizens to effect a citizen’s arrest.
