PF faction Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda has dismissed the notion that this season’s cholera outbreak can be attributed to former president Edgar Lungu’s policies. Nakacinda says Zambians know that the Patriotic Front completely ended cholera during their tenure. Earlier this week, Local Government and Rural Development Minister Gary Nkombo highlighted the increase in unplanned structures in Lusaka’s shanty compounds during the PF era, as a major contributing factor to the current cholera epidemic. “PF people, it was very common that they were building anywhere,” Nkombo complained. Nkombo said the heightened levels of cholera this year are associated with Lungu and the breakdown in the rule of law during his tenure.
