THE Tourism Council of Zambia has called for the repeal of a new regulation introduced by the Zambia Qualifications Authority, which requires employers to verify qualifications through ZAQA before hiring. Recently, ZAQA announced the introduction of a new law that prohibits employers in both the public and private sectors from hiring anyone whose qualifications had not been verified by the Authority. The Authority said the provision also prevents higher education institutions and those registered under the TEVET Act from enrolling individuals into any programme of study without first verifying their qualifications.
