A NAMWALA resident identified as Frank Mbola has drowned after the canoe he was in while fishing was capsized by a hippo on the Kafue River. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, another man drowned in Itezhi-Tezhi lake while his son swam to safety after a hippo attack. In a statement, Southern Province Police Deputy Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo confirmed the incident, saying Namwala Police was alerted of the incident by Christopher Masheke, 41, who reported that Mbila had drowned. “He reported that while returning from Nungu fishing area using a canoe, he and his colleague were attacked by a hippo which hit their canoe, causing it to capsize.
