ON behalf of the UPND government, Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Honourable Jack Mwiimbu issued a public apology to the Catholic Church on Saturday over the conduct of the police in Kabwe. In a shocking and extremely embarrassing move, police officers stormed the office of revered Kabwe Diocese Bishop Clement Mulenga and ordered him to end the meeting he was holding with former president Edgar Lungu. It’s difficult to find the right words that can define the scenes of a uniformed officer ordering a church leader to stop a private meeting because they did not seek permission from the police.
