SIXTY-FIVE coaches have applied to take over the reins at Ndola giants Zesco United FC as head coach.

In an interview, Zesco United media relations officer Katebe Chengo said the club received applications from top coaches across the world.

Chengo said only five local coaches applied for the job while the rest were from Europe and across Africa.

“As at close of yesterday which was the deadline, we had received 65 applications and only five of them were Zambians,” Chengo said.

She however could not reveal the applicants’ names saying some were bound by contracts.

Chengo said Zesco United would name the coach who would join the team in preseason.

Zesco resumed preseason training yesterday Monday 9th January and are currently being tutored by interim coach Tenant Chembo.

Zesco have been without a coach since George Lwandamina’s ‘move to Tanzanian giants Yanga FC in November last year.
