A 47-year-old man of Chiengi District has died after being kicked in his testicles.

According to a statement issued by acting police spokesperson Danny Mwale, Thursday, the deceased was a member of the Kazembe Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) and he was kicked by a suspect whom the unit was trying to apprehend.

“Police in Chienge District received a report of murder in which a 47 year old man identified as James Kabala of Chienge District in Luapula Province was murdered by a suspect who was resisting to be apprehended. Facts of the matter are that four members of Kazembe Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) officers who included James Kabala were taking a suspect identified as Mumba Kalwa aged 22 of Chienge District to Chipungu Border Police Post who became violent and in the process bite James Kabala on the right arm and later kicked him on the testicles. He fainted immediately and later died on the way to Mwabu Rural Health Centre,” stated Mwale.

“This occurred on 27th November, 2019 around 15 hours. The suspect who was earlier facing the case of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm (OABH) is detained at Chienge Police Station while the body of the deceased has since been deposited to Chienge District Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.”
