POLICE in Ndola have launched a manhunt for an unknown man who is on the run after defiling a 10-year-old girl.
The unknown man defiled the 10-year-old who was playing hide and seek with her siblings.
Copperbelt Deputy Commissioner of Police Bothwell Namusuwa said the unknown man had masked his face while defiling the girl.
Namuswa said the masked man was in the company of another man who held the other three siblings captive, while his friend defiled the 10-year-old.
“We had a report of defilement which occurred on September 1 in Bwana Mkubwa area in an unfinished building. It was reported by the mother of the victim on behalf of her daughter that she was defiled by a man who she cannot identify as he was wearing a mask,” Namusuwa said.
He said the 10-year-old victim was attacked while she was playing hide and seek with her siblings aged seven, five and three years.
“The man then pounced on the young girl. He was in company of another man who held the other three siblings captive while his colleague defiled the victim,” said Namuswa.
He said the suspect was on the run while the victim had been taken to hospital and that the matter was under serious investigations.
