THE Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security says over 500 foreign nationals involved in illegal gold mining have been apprehended by the Department of Immigration countrywide since February. In a statement, Thursday, the ministry’s Principal Public Relations Officer Mwala Kalaluka said 368 of the individuals were arrested in Mufumbwe, North-Western Province, between June and August. “The Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security has intensified law enforcement efforts and strengthened surveillance measures to curtail the active involvement of non-Zambians in illegal gold mining activities.
