TRANSPARENCY International Zambia (TIZ) says Livingstone Mayor Constance Muleabai should consider resigning on moral grounds. On Monday, Lusaka-based Senior Resident Magistrate Trevor Kasanda acquitted Muleabai, 49, of two counts of corrupt practices involving K180,000. The court ruled that while the State proved the mayor corruptly obtained K180,000, it failed to prove the funds were received from Mark Gabites as per the indictment. Commenting on the ruling, TIZ Executive Director Maurice Nyambe stated that the integrity questions that arose from the judgment and were established by the court were concerning.
